Application for Committee

 

 

Members of the Animal Advisory Committee are appointed by the Director of the Parks, Recreation and Neighborhood Services or by the designee chosen by the Director.  Each member serves a two-year term. Committee members may be appointed to consecutive terms.  Committee members shall meet every other month with the option of calling additional special meetings, sub committees, or workshops.

The nine (9) member Advisory Committee shall consist of any combination of the following categories:  neighborhood representatives from the city of San Jose, representatives from any contract city, professionals in the animal community, veterinarians, animal welfare groups and animal rescue groups. No more than three (3) individuals may be appointed to serve at the same time representing the same category.

The City of San Jose is currently looking to fill three (3) vacant positions on the Animal Services Advisory Committee. This Committee serves in an advisory capacity to the Animal Care & Services Division. Duties of the position include proposing and writing ordinances as well as working with the ACS Deputy Director to develop long term goals and plans for the division.
