The Animal Advisory Committee (AAC) acts in an advisory capacity to the Animal Care & Services Division (ACS) with regard to animal care, welfare and control. The AAC is comprised of a community cross-section of nine (9) volunteers who offer advice and support on issues relevant to Animal Care & Services.
Duties and activities of the Animal Advisory Committee
- Increase community awareness of the services provided by the Animal Care & Services Division including: licensing, rabies prevention, humane animal treatment and adoption.
- Provide assistance and review for the development and implementation of educational programs for outside organizations. Topics include: animal bite avoidance, pet care and training, pet overpopulation, feral cat programs, and spay/neuter programs.
- Review, assess and target specific neighborhood needs for the ACS Division.
- Provide advice and assistance in securing grants and alternative funding sources for ACS projects and operations.
- Provide advice and review for operational functions and public interactions of the ACS program.
- Provide a forum for public comments and suggestions to be reviewed and evaluated by ACS staff.
- Provide review and advice on proposed policies, programs, legislative actions and future strategies of the division
