Volunteer Position Title: SJACS Shelter Pal - "Customer Service" (Front End)
Supervisor: Volunteer Supervisor; Sr. Office Specialist
Location of Volunteer Assignment: 2750 Monterey Hwy., San Jose, CA 95111
Minimum Age: 18
What is fun and meaningful about this job? This exciting position is the pulse of the Animal Care Center. We rely on our Customer Service Volunteers to project a warm, friendly image. Visitors that are greeted and helped in a prompt and cheerful way are more likely to come back and recommend the shelter to their friends and neighbors. The more visitors we have the better chance our animals have of being adopted.
DUTIES:
- Welcome visitors to Animal Care Center
- Direct visitors to where they need to go
- Retrieve voicemails from main phone line
- Distribute written materials and handouts
- Assist customers with lost pet information and conduct lost pet tours
DESIRED QUALIFICATIONS:
The volunteer must:
- Be cheerful and have a positive attitude
- Have good communication and people skills
- Be able to retain extensive information about shelter policies and adoption animals, and have the ability to disseminate this information accurately
- Be dependable
- Be willing to adhere to the policies and procedures as instructed with thorough attention to detail
- Be able to work independently and with little direction
- Ability to keep a regularly scheduled day highly preferred.
