Volunteer Position Details

 


Volunteer Position Title:  SJACS Marketing Pal

Supervisor:  Volunteer Supervisor
Location of Volunteer Assignment:  2750 Monterey Hwy., San Jose, CA 95111
Minimum Age:  18

What is fun and meaningful about this job?
This position will be directly assisting with the marketing, advertising, and volunteer activites for the Animal Care Center. You will be helping to ensure a positive public image and experience for shelter visitors and volunteers. Your involvement in different projects and tasks will depend on your skill level and experience in areas like marketing, marketing communications, content production, creative writing, and knowledge of relelvant software programs.


DUTIES:

  • Provide support for volunteers as assigned
  • Assist with marketing projects and special events
  • Newsletter: Create, write, publish and distribute newsletter
  • Pet Photography: Take pictures of adoptable pets to post online (own camera required). Basic understanding of file formats and image editing highly preferred
  • Literature: Maintain inventory of animal literature, shelter handouts, and documents used by shelter staff and volunteers


DESIRED QUALIFICATIONS:
The volunteer must:

  • Have the ability to work and think independently while collaborating with staff on projects
  • Be computer literate. Experience using Macromedia Dreamweaver, Adobe InDesign, Photoshop, and Illustrator especially helpful, but not required.
  • Be able to follow through on individual projects to completion
  • Be active on email
  • Have good writing and/or editing skills
  • Be willing to adhere to policies and procedures as instructed
  • Creativity is a big plus!

(All training done at the Animal Care Center. Class schedules provided after we receive your application.)
